Cobble Hill 10k now Feb. 26.

I am pleased to advise that we have rescheduled the Cobble Hill 10k, as part of the 2012 Frontrunners Island Series, to now be held on Sunday, February 26^th, 2012. Start will be at 11am precisely, registration will be at George Bonner School on Cobble Hill Rd. All details of the race are as before, with only the date changed. The Ceevacs Roadrunner’s Club and our volunteers look forward to hosting you on this revised date with a safe and enjoyable event.

There have been some questions about whether registrations for this event could be transferred to other Island Series races (a question which applies to folks who registered for Cobble Hill only, rather than the entire series). Unfortunately this is not possible, as online payments are already processed through Events Online, and with different clubs involved it becomes impossible to move money and registrations from one event to another. However, everyone who registered and paid for the Cobble Hill event on Jan 22^nd, is automatically registered for the event now to be held on Feb 26^th – no need to reregister. I appreciate your understanding.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone enjoys the next race in the series at Cedar on Feb 5^th – John and his crew are ready to put on a great event.

Cobble Hill 10k Cancelled

Regretfully I have to let you know that given the weather conditions and the state of the roads used for our 10k race this Sunday, we do not believe that we can provide a safe course for our runners, and so have made the decision to cancel the race. We also wanted to make the decision in a time frame that allows a fair time frame to get the message out to all involved.

Issues arise such as possibility of rescheduling, financial implications, etc – these we will be discussing with the VIRA board in the very near future.

The TWC BAZAN BAY 5K RACE, takes place on Sunday, March 4th. We will need all your support to maintain this high quality race we are famous for....

Saturday Morning Cycling now 9:30

A small cycling group met at Francelli's Saturday morning (19th) and decided that in future, starting next Sat., the 26th, we would meet at 9:30 am for the morning group ride and will continue to start at this time until further notice, i.e. until no ice.

TWC Mini and Digest

The TWC Mini is now being sent out by me (Kellee) and after discussing the status of the Digest with several members at the AGM it seems like many of you enjoy reading about the Club and what's happening. While you should continue to refer to the website for the most up-to-date information, we would like to try to put together a quarterly digest and see what kind of response we get. There have been a few offers from TWC members for contributions and if there is something you would like to see in a future issue of the Digest then we would be happy to hear from you. Victoria Marathon Oct. 9

Congratulations to TWC members running in the GoodLife Victoria Marathon this past weekend:  Victoria Van Ek (first marathon!), Bruce Turcotte, Rob Hare, Kevin Taylor

Fern’s August, 2011 Kelowna Apple Race Report

The Apple weekend includes a number of different events and is very well organized. There were 1200 Age Groupers in the Sprint and Olympic Triathlons on Sunday. Normally, I do triathlons for the sheer enjoyment of the good workout, the camaraderie, being outside, the views and environment, the food, meeting challenges I set for myself . . ++. The time, however, I was going to have to race. I really wanted to qualify to go to the World’s in Auckland, New Zealand and, well, there were some women I was going to have to be faster than.

John's Ride for Parkinson's

In mid July, John Crouch started a ride Whitehorse in the Yukon to Victoria - a journey of 2,300 kms and that will take a little over three weeks.  He is dedicating this ride to Richard and to raise funds for the Parkinson Society of BC to support its work of finding a cure for this debilitating disease. Richard is his 40 year-old nephew that has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for the past 10 years.
