Team X Island Runner Westshore Sprint

There is only 2 weeks left to register for the 2012 Westshore Sprint.  This is a great triathlon to get your season going, Bike on the closed course and run on a chip trail.  Proceeds will be used this year to assist young athletes with their training/racing expenses (2 of these athletes will be attending the World Triathlon Championships in New Zealand).  Race swag is ARM WARMERS (waaaay better than another t-shirt)

Saturday Bike Update

Saturday's bike ride (April 22) was a great preview of the Victoria Grand Fondo! The group successfully conquered Munn's Road. Mike took a group along McTavish Road. Bob took a group out to Wain Road.

This Saturday (April 28) promises highlights of Metchosin. Chuck and Maurice will share some of their favourite routes.  Wayne

CYCLING SATURDAY

If you're cycling with the Club on Saturday and are interested; Pat will be @ Francelli's at the conclusion of ride, selling Club Running Caps ($10.00 tax included) and Ball Caps ($13.00).

SATURDAY BIKE RIDE

We had 21 riders on Saturday the 14th at the TWC bike ride.  Bob and Kathy took one group on the ridge (Ocean Spray) above Landsend Road.  Maurice took another group along Wain Road and Tatlow.  See photos here.

Next Saturday the 21st the plan is to ride some of the Victoria Grand Fondo course, starting at Francelli's at 8:30am.

Navy Tri of Compassion June 30

The Navy Tri of Compassion will be back to a pool swim this year. The event will run out of Naden pool in Esquimalt, and the bike course will be pretty much the same as last year. The event is also back to a sprint distance only, and youth categories will be back as well, and possible junior categories (6-10 y.o.)

TWC Running Workouts

TRAIN FAST - RACE FAST

Sound familiar, remember our TWC SPEED workouts on Tuesdays at 9:00 am. We meet at the Beaver Lake lower parking lot. Workouts are posted on the TWC website. Workouts designed by Larry McMahon(Tri Canada Coach).

 

GETTING STRONGER!

Want to get stronger. Hills should be part of your training. TWC HILL workouts are on Thursday at 5:45 pm. We meet in the Commonwealth Centre lobby.

SPECIAL BIKING ANNOUNCEMENT!

Starting on APRIL 7th the Saturday bike rides will begin at 8:30 AM.

Saturday bike rides are going well. The main group covers 70-75 km in about three hours(25k/hr).  Great base training for Olympic and Half Ironman races. We meet at Francell's in Royal Oak. Stay tuned for news on our recreational biking group.

VICTORIA YOUTH TRIATHLON: June 10, 2012

Most of you are aware that Jacqui and I are stepping back from our role of organizing the Victoria Youth Triathlon. After 25+ years it is time to pass on this great event to someone else.

 

Rob Dibden has come forward and expressed his strong interest in organizing a 2012 Victoria Youth Triathlon.  Rob is a Victoria policeman(soon to retire) and a very successful triathlete. He has been very involved with Triathlon BC and he has experience organizing sporting events. 

 

Rob would like to invite anyone who has worked on previous Youth Triathlons to get involved in this year's triathlon, scheduled for June 10. Please contact Rob if you are interested in helping at the 2012 triathlon. robdibden@me.com
